In light of the Governor’s recent declaration, SHCTC students and staff will report on Monday, March 16. Both our staff and students will take this opportunity to work together on the upcoming remote and online learning assignments. At the end of that day we will go on the three week “spring break” that was dictated through the Governor’s office. As stated earlier this is a fluid situation and we will keep you informed as events unfold.
Parents and students of SHCTC, In light of the recent events surrounding the Coronavirus, SHCTC will be joining other Brown County schools in canceling all student classes for tomorrow, Friday, March 13. The purpose of this closure is to allow our staff the opportunity to prepare online and remote learning experiences for our students should it become necessary to endure an extended closure. Our intention is to resume normal classes on Monday, March 16, however this is an extremely fluid situation. We will stay in communication with our students and parents as things evolve.

The science department had an energy efficiency assembly, and is embarking on an energy challenge. Our school is taking the My Energy Kit Challenge and has a goal to save at least 20,000 kilowatt-hours of energy. We’ll reach this goal when at least 100 families sign up for a FREE Energy Kit from Duke Energy and use it to make their homes energy efficient. These FREE kits contain LED bulbs, faucet aerators and other useful items that can make a big difference toward saving energy at home. When we meet the challenge our school will automatically win $250. Reminder to SHCTC students; You can get your FREE Energy Kit from MyEnergyKit.org or call 1-855-386-9548. Thanks for your help in reaching our goal! #loveshctc

The weekly “life lesson” video from Mr. Burrows focused on managing personal device usage. After watching the video, students in the Fayetteville MS IT classes compared usage times on their devices. The results were shocking with students averaging anywhere from a few minutes to nearly seven hours per day on their phones! Students then wrote a reflection on how device use impacts their life. #loveshctc
