“The Canterbury Tales,” written by Geoffrey Chaucer in the 14th century, is a collection of poems presented as a storytelling contest by a group traveling on a pilgrimage. Although it is hundreds of years old, there are still references made today in modern books, movies, and music connected to the text. Mrs. Germann’s ENG 12 students learned about medieval culture, language, and beliefs, as well as popular trades and careers of the time period. Construction students all agreed that a “treadmill operator” would not pass OSHA standards, and no one wants to be a gong farmer! After reading some of Chaucer’s work, the seniors collaborated in groups to prepare and perform several of the tales in a storytelling contest. Winning teams were rewarded with celebratory donuts fit for a knight! #loveshctc
